A Chilly Evening Ride

We dropped G off at the airport amidst some nasty storms.  No planes were taking off or landing but we expected it to move through fairly quickly.  Every time we go to the airport we have a discussion about our least favorite piece of Denver public art, Blucifer the Evil Horse of Death.  A piece of the thing fell on the artist, killing him, while it was being constructed. It's eyes change color from evil red to...ummm....well, empty.  The dang thing is just scary!

And with tornado's on the horizon, a death horse standing guard over the entrance road and now a giant sculpture of Anubis, the Egyptian God of Death glaring into the main terminal....
...well,  flying out of DIA has been taken to a whole new level!

So we decided we needed some good juju to change the mood.  What better to conjure up good things than a little Smashburger and a random, open-to-anyone jumpy castle!

  1. That thing is terrifying! Is it really as big as it looks in the photo? It reminds me of the colossal Stalin that used to overlook Prague. The urban legend was, the sculptor was so disgusted by it (and also was getting so much hate mail about it from the general public!), that he committed suicide and left his estate to a school for the blind, since they were the only ones who would never see his horrible work.

I really like the sound of Smashburger, on the other hand...

  2. It's 32 feet tall, so ya it's pretty big. I just shutter every time I see it - especially knowing that my tax dollars paid for the damn thing. But I guess there are worse things we pay for with taxes.

Smashburger is a little bit of heaven on a bun. And their fries and onion strings and shakes are magnificent too. And there's one a short ride from our house. Dangerous.
