What's Cooking and Growing Today

G baked up an amazing boule of caraway rye which he used for a kick ass reuben today.  I wanted a photo of the sandwich but it was gone before I could get my camera out.

While the bread cooled I did a little walk around the garden to see if we had anything new.

Turnips!  I'm not sure what I'll do with them.  My favorite way to eat them is raw with a little salt.

This amazing iris!  I'm not sure which variety it is (I knew I should have kept the info) The photos really don't do it justice.  The color is so vibrant!

My deep purple clematis is just starting to bloom.  It's truly stunning when it's fully flowering.

Our columbine is going crazy this year, at last!

These little asters were with some ornamental grasses we got for free on craiglist.  They aren't even in the ground yet but are blooming up a storm.

  1. My husband does most of the cooking in our house. He's quite the chef. So often, as I'm halfway through his latest gastronomical creation I think how pretty it all looked just served on one of our William-Sonoma plates and think "I really should have taken a picture of this for my blog". Oh, well, next time.

  2. I think G is finally catching on. Tonight when I got home he had all the ingredients for our dinner salad nicely arranged in a basket for a pic before prepping. heh heh
